Requires graduation from a NASP-approved program or the NCSP credential.

SEA Credential:
Full (Tier 3 and 4): Graduated from a NASP-approved program or hold the NCSP credential.

Temporary Limited Full-Time (Tier 2): Requires a Master's degree in school psychology or two years of graduate school preparation in a school psychology licensure program, and is granted on a temporary basis for up to two years. The Tier 2 license may be renewed up to three times. Graduates from non-NASP approved/accredited programs and interns may be eligible for this license.

Continuing Education Requirements:

Renewal occurs every 3 years for Tier III and 5 years for Tier IV and requires 25 hours of continuing professional development per year. School Psychologists who hold NCSP certification are granted a clock-hour exemption, as approved by a Board of Teaching Resolution. Scope of Practice:
Scope of practice is defined in the Minnesota Administrative Rules. School psychologists with the SEA credential can provide services in public schools (K-12), early childhood and pre-K settings, and private and charter schools. The SEA credential also allows one to provide contract services in schools. The SEA credential does not allow for private practice outside the schools. To practice outside of schools, one must apply through the Minnesota Board of Psychology.
