The Science of Math and Math Anxiety

Math anxiety is an important affective factor that is negatively correlated with math performance by interfering with students' motivation, self-efficacy, and task engagement. Given that math anxiety can affect students' well-being, math performance, and future economic opportunities, school psychologists must be familiar with math anxiety, including what it is, what it is not, and how to address it.
