Convention FAQs

In-Person Attendance

Once I register for the convention, do I have to pay to attend sessions?

Your convention registration includes access to 1,200 sessions. However, you can add Documented Sessions and NASP Convention Workshops to earn documented CPD.

What is included in the registration fee?

More than 1,200 sessions and events, including:

• Admission to the Exhibit Hall
• Convention Mentor Program
• Featured Sessions (FS)
• Interest Group Networking Sessions (IG)
• Keynote Address (KY)
• Mini-Skills Presentations (MS)
• Paper Presentations (PA)
• Poster Presentations (PO)
• Practitioner Conversation Sessions (PC)
• Special Sessions (SS)
• Symposium Presentations (SY)

What is not included in the registration fee?

• Meals
• Documented Sessions (DS)
• NASP Convention Workshops (WS)
• Red Cross Training

Will there be a convention app again this year?

Yes, the app will be available for download beginning January 2024. Learn more, here.

Can I add sessions after I've already registered?

Absolutely! Follow the instructions in your confirmation email to add to your initial registration. You can also add sessions and events on site at any of the Assisted Registration counters.

I need documented, NASP- and APA-approved CPD. How do I get it at the convention?

You can earn documented continuing professional development credits on site in NASP Convention Workshops (3 or 6 hours each) and Documented Sessions (1.25 hours each), and by purchasing Session Recording Packages (up to 10.25 hours each) for viewing at a later date. All sessions are NASP-approved, and NASP is also approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. NASP maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Is there any way to save more on my hotel costs?

Yes. NASP's Roommate Locator Assistance Service lets you find a roommate for the convention and significantly reduces your hotel costs.

Can you help me explain the importance of attending to my supervisor?

We have tools that you can use to help explain the value of attending the convention to your supervisor, including talking points and a customizable letter that you can download.

How can I be a presenter at the convention?

The deadline to submit a proposal for the 2024 convention has passed. The next annual convention will be held February 18–21, 2025, in Seattle, WA. The Call for Presentation Proposals information for the 2025 convention will be available on site in New Orleans, LA, and on the NASP website thereafter.

The size of the Exhibit Hall is overwhelming. How do I find a specific exhibitor?

A map of the Exhibit Hall will be in your registration packet when you check in on site, and the Exhibit Hall Handbook will be available for download online closer to the convention. You also can view a list of exhibitors and make a checklist of the booths you wish to visit using the NASP convention app launching in January 2024.

Why isn't the Exhibit Hall open on Wednesday when the convention starts?

Setup of booths in the Exhibit Hall takes two and a half days to complete. The exhibitors also need time to stock the booths.

Why isn't the Exhibit Hall open on Thursday morning?

Setup of booths in the Exhibit Hall takes multiple days to complete. The exhibitors also need time to stock the booths.

Why are there no early morning hours for the Exhibit Hall?

More than half of the entities that purchase booths have only one representative present. Exhibitor rules require that booths be staffed at all times. The booth hours are planned to accommodate reasonable work schedules and, even then, brief absences to attend personal needs may be necessary.

I am an employer/recruiter and would like to conduct interviews. What do I need to do?

For the past few years, many employers/recruiters have had Exhibit Hall booths to promote their organizations and solicit candidates. On-site interviews have been handled in a variety of ways, but they are not organized through NASP. Some have interviewed within the confines of the booth. Others have found appropriate spots in the hall, or public areas in the hotels or convention center to meet candidates.

New Orleans Express Virtual Package

What is included in registration for the virtual package?

Registration for the New Orleans Express Virtual Package includes live streaming of the eight Documented Sessions—all of which will include closed captioning, sign language interpretation, and opportunity to engage in live chat with other virtual attendees. Attendees will also have access to the General Session and 50 handpicked poster presentations.

Can I earn documented, NASP- and APA-approved CPD for these sessions?

Yes, you can earn Category A documented professional development credit by watching these sessions live/in real-time, staying until the end, and completing an evaluation and affidavit after the session is complete.

What if I miss a live session? Will it be available on-demand?

Yes; however, you will no longer qualify for Category A CPD credit. Instead, upon completion, you would be eligible for Category H CPD credit (self-study). You will have access to Documented Sessions on-demand for 60 days following the convention.

Does the New Orleans Express Virtual Package include access to the Exhibit Hall?

No, we are not offering a virtual Exhibit Hall experience this year.

Can you help me explain the importance of attending virtually to my supervisor?

We have tools that you can use to help explain the value of purchasing the New Orleans Express Virtual Package and watching live sessions virtually, including talking points and a customizable letter that you can download.

Special Events

I thought everything was included in the registration fee. Why can’t I attend the President’s Awards?

This is the only Special Event that is by invitation only, for a small group of people being recognized by President Price for their help this year.

Meetings/Special Interest Group Networking Sessions

I’m trying to find the date and time for a particular Meeting/Special Interest Group networking session but can’t find it.

Because of time limitations, this year’s virtual convention will include the educational program only and no Meetings or Special Interest Group networking sessions.

Virtual Challenge

What is the virtual challenge?

The virtual challenge is a friendly competition that encourages attendees to engage with one another while earning badges and points for each achievement reached. The more you do, the more points and badges you receive, which makes you eligible for prizes.

Why haven’t I not yet received points or a badge for my NASP membership or NCSP designation?

We will process those points on Thursday, so they will not appear earlier in the week.

What if I don’t really like the prize I win?

Prizes are not transferrable and cannot be exchanged for other prizes or cash value.

Social Wall

How do I access the social wall?

Click the “Social Wall” button in the navigation menu on the left side of your screen. If you want to post something, click “Create Post,” write your text, and browse for a photo to add, if you’d like.

Does the Social Wall link to my external social media accounts?

No. The Social Wall is internal to the convention platform only. If you want to post the same content on social media, you’ll need to log into your social media accounts and post there directly.

What should I share on the Social Wall?

It’s up to you! Don’t hesitate to share anything positive you may want to highlight or reflect on from a specific session, event, or the convention overall.

Can I interact with other participants?

Yes. You can interact with others using the social wall or forums on the event page. You also can chat with other attendees during the sessions you attend.

Convention Consultations
