NASP’s Leadership Assembly voted to adopt changes to NASP membership types. Early Career membership has been extended to the first three years of practice. Student Associate membership is now open to high school students with an interest in pursuing a career in school psychology. See details on each category below.

Dues listed below are based on the one-time payment option and listed in USD. Members enrolling in the installment plan will be charged an additional $10 non-refundable processing fee.

Regular Member ($230)

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Trained in school psychology
  • Certified by the National School Certification System (NSPCS)
  • Credentialed by a state as a school psychologist
  • Working 50% or more as a faculty member in a school psychology graduate program

If you are not currently working as a school psychologist but meet one of the above criteria and wish to join as a Regular Member, you are eligible to do so. We also have a Leave of Absence category below for those not currently working at all.

Graduate Student Member ($85)

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Graduate student enrolled in a school psychology graduate-level program (or equivalent, if international) at least one-half time or minimum of 6 semester hours or its equivalent per semester
  • Includes internship year

Not available to those employed full-time in the profession.

Early Career Member ($165)

  • Graduated from a school psychology graduate program (or equivalent, if international) and in first three years of practice

Retired Member ($95)

  • Retired from full time professional activity after holding Regular membership for at least 5 consecutive years
  • May be consulting or involved in other paid professional activity less than 15 hours a week

International Member ($230 USD)

Must meet one of the Regular membership requirements above and:

  • Live or work outside the United States
  • Function as a school psychologist or equivalent

International members do not receive print mailings. School psychologists employed in the Department of Defense or other US governmental schools outside the USA are eligible for Regular membership when using APO mailing address. If non-APO mailing address is used, the individual will be considered an International member.

Common Address Member ($170)

Must meet one of the Regular membership requirements above and:

  • Reside with a Regular member paying full dues

All mailings, except election materials, are only sent to the Regular member. This category is available to those who live at the same address; it is not available for those employed at the same address (i.e. colleagues).

Allied Professional Member ($230)

Does not meet the eligibility requirements of the other membership categories and must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Psychologist from other specialty area
  • Consultant
  • Supervisor of psychological services without school psychology credential
  • Faculty at a school psychology graduate program who teaches less than 50% school psychology courses
  • Allied professionals (i.e., counselors, social workers, principals, etc.)

Student Associate Member ($85)

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • High school student interested in school psychology
  • Undergraduate interested in school psychology
  • Graduate student not enrolled in a school psychology program. Must be enrolled at least one-half time or minimum of six semester hours per semester.

Leave of Absence Member ($80)

Must meet one of the following requirements in addition to having been a member for at least one year:

  • On leave of absence from employer
  • Unable to work because of family or personal reasons
  • Looking for work or unemployed
  • Home caring for children/stay-at-home parent
  • Consulting or involved in other paid professional activity less than 15 hours a week (part time)
