Program(s) Philosophy
The program’s philosophy is operationalized through the following values and emphases:
· Approaching every aspect of professional functioning from a science-informed perspective.
· Adopting a systems-based ecological framework that acknowledges the multiple influences on human behavior including biological, cultural, familial, socio-political, and institutional influences.
· Working respectfully and collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other key individuals in the lives of children and youth.
· Treating every person as a unique individual who is capable of improving his or her life in dignified and meaningful ways.
· Honoring and accommodating human diversity while acknowledging basic aspects of human functioning that are common to people of all ages and backgrounds.
· Advocating and upholding the legal and ethical standards of the psychology profession.
