Program(s) Philosophy
The School Psychology graduate program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is designed to prepare students to work in the entire spectrum of organizations that serve children, adolescents, and their families. Clinical child and school psychology graduate students are trained together at the masters degree level, with those interested in school psychology continuing their education in the specialist degree program. The graduate program, which is approved by NASP, has an ecological/systems perspective, emphasizes prevention and early intervention, stresses data-based decision making using both formal and informal methods, highlights the consultative and problem solving model, and offers extensive field experiences.
