Step 6: Develop an Action Plan

Once your have thoroughly evaluated needs, resources, climate and capacity for change, possible barriers to advocacy, and existing policies and practices, it is time to develop a plan of action for how you intend to align your current practice with the standards outlined in the NASP Practice Model. Whether you work alone or collaboratively with colleagues, considering all of the issues previously stated and then writing down your plan of action, who is responsible, what resources are needed, and your proposed timeline for action is critical to maintaining a systematic approach to improving practice and policy. Use Worksheet V.1, the Advocacy Action Plan Worksheet for your individual or team action planning.
