Developing Local Norms for Individually Administrated Tests
Randy W. Kamphaus, Ruben Lozano
ABSTRACT: Practical considerations, such as sample selection and data analysis, associated with local norms development are discussed. A local norming project involving administering Form Lof the PPVT-R to 398 Mexican-American children in grades K through 6 is presented in detail. The mean standard score for the local sample was three-fourths of a standard deviation below the mean for the national norm group. The utility of local norms and their interpretation is discussed in the context of the findings obtained for this sample.
