Moving Toward a Technology of Prevention: A Model and Some Tentative Findings

ABSTRACT: This article discusses the crisis- coping model of school psychology practice and the problems brought about by this model. Then the advantages of a preventive approach are outlined. Finally, the author describes one multi-trait, multimethod assessment procedure (Barclay Classroom Assessment System) that utilizes rating technology and computer synthesis to implement a preventive screening procedure in schools.
