The Pluralistic Assessment Project: Sociocultural Effects in Cultural Assessment
During 1963 and 1964, data for a comprehensive epidemiology of mental retardation was collected in the city of Riverside, California. The purpose of the study was to investigate the distribution of mental retardation in the population of a medium-sized American city (population approximately 100,000) both from a traditional clinical perspective and from a sociological perspective.
