Preparing the Mainstream: Changing Children's Attitudes Toward the Disabled

Much attention has been focused on providing handicapped children with the least restrictive environment in which the child’s needs could be met. For many exceptional children that environment will be the regular classroom. To reduce possible psychological restrictions in the learning environment, these exceptional children should be met with nonprejudicial attitudes by their peers in the mainstream.
