The Status Report Extended: Further Elaborations on the American Family
The preceding articles have offered a rich array of data and theoretical foundations for a better understanding of current family ecology. However, as might be expected in dealing with such a complex phenomenon, many significant pieces of this mosaic are either missing or only vaguely developed. Through this concluding article, a few of the many remaining issues will beset forth, and some speculative conclusions offered. These deal specifically with evidence of declining popularity of traditional marriage and parenting, further elaboration on decreasing societal support systems, and illustrations of failure in our socialization efforts.
