In Defense of Racially and Culturally Nondiscriminatory Assessment

pp. 89—115

The authors invited to prepare papers on racially and culturally nondiscriminatory assessment with specific reference to the System of Multicultural Pluralistic Assessment (SOMPA) represent the full range of opinion on the topic. Some are adamantly opposed to the movement toward greater cultural pluralism in assessment practices while others are enthusiastically favorable. The authors also represent the full range of familiarity with the SOMPA. Some have little or no familiarity with the system while others have completed both basic and advanced training.1 The two variables are highly correlated.
