History and Status of School Psychology Accreditation in the United States

Abstract: A history of school psychology accreditation and a chronology of program decisions are developed from perspectives on accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Council for Accreditation in Teacher Education (NCATE),the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and the efforts of the APA/NASP Joint Task Force. Historical trends and future directions also are discussed.
