Commentary on Kratochwill and Stoiber: Research in School Psychology: What Can the Future Hold?

Tom Kratochwill and Karen Stoiber (2000)have done an outstanding job in delineating needed research directions and agendas–with the choices and changes needed to accomplish them–for school psychology to continue to become more useful and relevant to practitioners in this and related fields. In this commentary I will expand on some points or mention other directions that the profession should consider. I also will emphasize a point that under girds Kratochwill and Stoiber’s entire focus: We school psychologists (“we” referring to our profession)are in charge of our future more so than are external forces. We, through our choices and actions can, to a large extent, choose the future we want.
