Educational and School Psychology in the United Kingdom and the United States: An Introduction

Abstract: This article provides a brief overview of the current state of education in the United Kingdom and the United States. It begins with a broad outline of the laws governing education in both countries as well as a description of the most common structures and school divisions used in each country. A discussion of school reform issues and efforts follows, including a description of special education practices in both countries. Finally,the professional training, credentialing, and practice of school/educational psychology in each country is described.
