Some Characteristics of Recent Research in Scandinavian Education
It is the purpose of this review to look at some of the characteristics of educational research in the Scandinavian countries primarily as reported in the last two years of the Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research. This journal has an editorial board composed of professors from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, and publishes research studies that are generally, but not exclusively, drawn from the geographic area of Scandinavia. The review will be centered on three major themes that appear to be replicated in one or more issues of the Journal. They are : (a) the organizational changes and emphases in educational research and applications, (b) contributions towards the theory of achievement-motivation, and (c) attitudinal characteristics of students, teachers, parents and others.
