The Vocational School Psychologist - A Specialty in Quest of a Training Program

pp. 51—54

Although school psychology grew out of the need to identify children who would benefit from various types of special educational programming, in its current maturation as a profession it is experiencing the development of specialty areas such as those that emerged in the professions of law, medicine, engineering, and accounting. In recent years training programs have been developed that emphasize such specialty areas as educational consultation, behavior modification, the facilitation of educational change, and the preventive approach as well as the more traditional areas of child study and special education.
