Welcome to the latest edition of Communiqué Online. This is the January/February edition; look for the March/April edition during the first part of April. By then, I hope to have seen many of you at the NASP convention in Philadelphia.

In this issue, we feature front-page stories about family–school collaboration, the key components of safe and supportive conditions for learning, and the efforts of the New Jersey Association of School Psychologists to change the way schools address traumatic brain injury in children and adolescents. I especially encourage you to look at the two handouts on safe, supportive conditions for learning because I think they make great tools for us to use as we try to help people understand that social, emotional, and behavioral interventions directly impact school achievement.

On the human-interest side, read Gerard Seifert's article on “Aikido, Mindfulness, and Counseling.” I'm always amazed at the wide variety of interests that school psychologists have!

There's a lot more in this issue: I hope you take some time to browse and perhaps find something new to enjoy about your profession.

Happy New Year!

John Desrochers
