Don’t Miss the Fun Stuff at the Convention!
All work and no play at the San Francisco convention is just not right. As if the packed program of educational sessions from 8 to 5 were not enough, several special events will certainly round out your schedule. Here is a glimpse of what NASP has in store for you in the City by the Bay. Check your program for even more!
Welcome Orientation First timers and old timers alike are welcome to attend this session on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Learn how to get the most out of the convention and meet new people you will pass numerous times over the next few days.
San Francisco Welcome Party Come celebrate the Chinese New Year (Feb. 3) and the year of the Rabbit by hopping around on the dance floor. Join your colleagues for a winter blast full of networking, music, dancing, and fun. Mark your calendar for Tuesday evening at 9:00 p.m.
Yoga Rise and shine early on Wednesday and Friday to warm up for your convention day with an hour of yoga. Check the program for the 7:00 a.m. location.
NASP 5K Kick off Thursday morning with a timed 5K run. Or, participate in one of the runs, walks, or other activities organized for exercise on a more personalized schedule. There is no such thing as a leisurely walk in a city where there are hills in every direction. Although this is California, foggy mornings and ocean breezes can be chilly, so be prepared! Preregistration is required for the 5K event to ensure a T-shirt in the correct size!
Book Discussion With Dr. George Bear Meet the author and discuss his new book, School Discipline and Self- Discipline: A Practical Guide To Promoting Prosocial Student Behavior. Check the program for time and location.
NASP Awards Reception Extend your convention day on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. by coming together to honor colleagues and others for outstanding work and support of our profession.
Multicultural Meet and Greet Join your colleagues in a celebration of diversity. Network with other members, pick up multicultural resources and information, and hear about the accomplishments and initiatives of the NASP Multicultural Affairs Committee on Thursday morning 8:30.
29th Annual Past President’s Roast Who says leaders get respect? Warm up for Thursday dinner by attending (4:00 to 6:30p.m.) a slightly irreverent review of the professional accomplishments of former NASP President Lee Huff.
Children’s Fund Auction The best place for fun on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. The auction is more than a fund raiser that benefits children. Enjoy the competition of bidding along with food, cash bar, networking, and plenty of time left over for a late dinner.
Friday Night Farewell to SF and Hello Philadelphia Enjoy one last opportunity to network and party with your friends before breaking camp and heading home. Grab some dinner and get back to the hotel by 9:00 p.m. for music and dancing until midnight.
With all these choices, don’t forget to fit in time to explore San Francisco and all it has to offer. The convention program and city will make your week fly by and make for a memorable experience on both the professional and personal levels.
