PA114: Academic Motherhood: Perspectives from Early Mid and Senior Career Faculty
Thursday, February 20, 2014 10:00 a.m.–10:50 a.m.
As more women enter academia than decades past, fewer women than men persist, earn tenure, or advance to full professor (Curtis, 2005). One of the reasons this may occur is due to family choices around parenting. This presentation will include four mothers - at various stages of their academic careers - who will share their experiences regarding academic motherhood. Participants will gain strategies regarding negotiating parental leave, returning to work, redefining identities, and maintaining productivity.
