MS093: Child and Adolescent PTSD

This presentation provides evidence-based information about the expression of child-adolescent posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), risk factors and prevalence estimates relating to who develops PTSD, reliable and valid PTSD diagnostic tests, norm-referenced measures of anxiety, depression, misconduct, intelligence, and achievement that are uniquely sensitive to the expression of PTSD in youth, the NIMH recommendations for helping recently traumatized children, and effective cognitive-behavioral interventions for children with PTSD. PowerPoint slides, lecture, and discussion will be used.
