PI018: Mitigating Children's Crisis Reactions through Social Media: Research and Implications

Friday, February 21, 2014 10:00 AM–10:45 AM

How can social media reach those who do not seek services and is it a useful tool in alleviating a child’s reaction to crises? During the session, the presenters will provide a literature review of social media’s role in mitigating or exacerbating crisis reactions exhibited by children. Participants will discuss ways school psychologists can use social media before, during, and after crises. Potential best practice and directions for future research will be discussed.
