Wednesday, February 19, 2014 8:00 AM–9:50 AM

Incorporating positive assessment measures to expand beyond a deficit-based model is a key step in providing a comprehensive assessment. We will provide an overview of positive psychology, with a focus on positive-oriented assessments. We will introduce several well-validated instruments to assess specific positive psychological experiences, traits and institutions, including life satisfaction, positive and negative affect, hope, optimism, character strengths, emotional self-efficacy, achievement motivation, and school engagement/climate. Samples of building positive student profiles will be provided.
