MS040: Developing Comprehensive School Policies on Restraint and Seclusion

This presentation will examine the school psychologist’s role in developing school policies on restraint and seclusion. Participants will leave with a framework for developing a comprehensive policy on restraint and seclusion for their school. Participants will learn: (1) procedural safeguards to incorporate into their policy to avoid ethical and legal issues; (2) ways to infuse best practices in restraint, seclusion, and Positive Behavior Supports into school policy; and (3) policy and program evaluation procedures.
