PA042: Enhancing Emergent Literacy Skills of Low-Income Preschoolers

Tuesday, February 18, 2014 12:00 PM–12:50 PM

Description:

This presentation focuses on the importance of emergent literacy skills, with particular emphasis on preschoolers from low-income families. Participants will gain a better understanding of emergent literacy skills, how these skills relate to later academic achievement, and the discrepancy that exists between preschoolers of low and high income families. As a result of attending, participants will be able to identify and apply research-based interventions to support low-income preschoolers as they learn to read.
