PO036: Strategies in Basic Relational Concept Acquisition Among Children With ASD

Children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) often have difficulty following directions that contain basic relational concepts of space, time and quantity. We will explain the cognitive problem-solving strategies that children with ASD utilize compared to neurotypical children for understanding basic concepts such as top, bottom, always, before, few, equal, etc. Educators, parents and practitioners will learn how to develop children’s knowledge of basic concepts in the classroom and at home.
