MS010: DSM-5: Understanding The Revised Language Of Private Practice

Friday, February 21, 2014 4:00 PM–5:50 PM

The recent update to DSM-5 has been controversial, but private practitioners will continue to make DSM diagnoses. Although DSM disorders don’t map directly onto special education eligibility categories, school psychologists must be fluent in the language of private practice to appropriately consider outside reports and better collaborate with community partners. Participants will understand how to use diagnostic information for educational purposes, and become familiar with changes in old diagnoses and new psychiatric disorders.
