PA027: "The Silent T": Understanding and Supporting Transgender Students in Schools
Tuesday, February 18, 2014 2:00 PM–2:50 PM
Description: Transgender students in America’s schools are a marginalized group even within the LGBT movement. While the acronym LGBT may suggest a cohesive group, transgender students do not always report the same needs as their lesbian, gay, and bisexual peers. This presentation will seek to explore what it means to be transgender, the specific concerns of this population of students, and the role that school psychologists can play in supporting transgender students’ needs.
