PO008: CBT For Academically Weak Asian Students With Behavioural Problems

Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is an empirically validated treatment for behaviourally challenging students, but accommodations are necessary to optimise outcomes in Asian students and those with concurrent learning difficulties. We present results indicating how a culturally sensitive CBT programme reduced behavioural problems in Singaporean youth with academic struggles. The presentation allows psychologists to recognise what adaptations can enhance CBT’s suitability for Asian students with behavioural and academic difficulties. It will also highlight mediators of behavioural change.
