WS021: Mental Health Issues in ASD

Mental health disorders are common in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Learner objectives for this workshop include (a) recognizing mental health disorders commonly seen in children with ASD and developing an appreciation for their impact on behavior and academic performance, (b) addressing internalizing behaviors, and (c) understanding the role of medication in the management of mental health disorders in children with ASD. Instruction will be by lecture, case vignettes, and citations to the published literature.
