WS016: Update on Psychiatric Disorders in Children and Adolescents

Wednesday, February 19, 2014 2:30 PM–5:30 PM

This workshop will review the psychiatric disorders that school psychologists most frequently encounter, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. The workshop reviews the new DSM-5 criteria, the presentations of these disorders, their relationships with comorbid disorders, the recent research investigating the causes of these disorders, and the most up-to-date approaches to treatment. Controversies, such as that concerning childhood bipolar disorder, will also be reviewed.
