WS015: Motivational Interviewing for Effective Classroom Management

The workshop will use case examples, video examples, modeling, and role-playing to teach participants how to use motivational interviewing (MI) strategies to foster effective teacher consultation relationships. At session’s end, participants will be able to (a) articulate the logic, spirit, and strategies associated with the MI approach in working with teachers; (b) identify the four MI processes and methods for facilitating them; and (c) implement MI strategies while minimizing MI-inconsistent responses.
