Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Once I register for the convention, do I have to pay to attend sessions?

No. Your convention registration includes more than 1,000 sessions automatically. You can add paid sessions and events like Documented Sessions and NASP Convention Workshops to expand your registration, but they are entirely optional.

Can I add sessions and events after I’ve already registered?

Absolutely! Follow the instructions in your confirmation e-mail to add to your initial registration. You can also add sessions and events on site at any of the assisted registration counters.

I need documented, NASP-, APA-, and NBCC-approved CPD. How do I get it?

You can earn documented, NASP-, APA-, and NBCC-approved continuing professional development credits on site in NASP Convention Workshops and Documented Sessions, and by purchasing Session Recording Packages.

Do I get any discounts with my registration?

As a convention attendee, you can take advantage of specially negotiated rates at either of the official convention hotels. You can also get discounts with companies like Delta Airlines, Super Shuttle, and more. Find out more in the hotel and travel section.

Is there a way to save more on my hotel costs?

Yes. Using NASP’s Roommate Locator Assistance Service lets you find a roommate for the convention and cut your hotel costs in half.

Can you help me explain the importance of attending to my supervisor?

We have tools that you can use to help explain the value of attending the convention to your supervisor, including talking points and a customizable letter that you can download.

How can I be a presenter at the convention?

The deadline to submit a proposal for the 2014 convention has passed. The next annual convention will be held February 17–20, 2015, in Orlando, FL. The Call for Presentations information for the 2015 convention will be available on site in Washington, DC and on the NASP website, thereafter.

Can I assist with the Annual Convention?

NASP is looking for individuals to serve as Convention Assistants and NASP Convention Workshop Monitors. All assistants and monitors must be current NASP members and must register for the convention before signing up.

The time you provide as an Convention Assistant may count toward continuing professional development (CPD) hours, depending on your personal evaluation of the educational value of the experience. In appreciation of a minimum of 4–6 hours of services as Convention Assistants, a refund of $75 will be given to student Convention Assistants only. Convention Assistant spots fill quickly on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis.

Workshop Monitors may participate in the workshop (and receive CPD credit) without paying for the workshop fee. Individuals serving as Workshop Monitors do not need to register for the workshop they monitor, once they have signed up for that monitor assignment. Please note that, unlike Convention Assistants, Workshop Monitors do not receive a $75 partial registration fee refund.

The electronic sign-up for Convention Assistant and NASP Convention Workshop Monitor slots will open on November 1, 2013.
