NASP 2012 5K Walk/Run (Rocky Road Tour)

The NASP 5K Walk/Run—Rocky Road Tour promotes the good health and camaraderie of school psychology professionals at the NASP Annual Convention. It also lends community support by donating to a local charity with strong ties to children and/or families. For 2012, all proceeds after expenses are paid will be donated to Girls on the Run (GOTR) (Montgomery County PA chapter) educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living via a curriculum of running, group supports, and thoughtful core values.

This year's event is “DIY” (Do-It-Yourself). The “DIY” concept is our best option in a venue where snow and ice are possibilities. “DIY” means there is no formally organized or timed event. Instead, we offer assorted routes and maps for each participant to run or walk on a day/time of their choosing and/or the option to participate in small, informally led group walks or runs. The “DIY” format keeps overhead low, particularly avoiding heavy fees for bad-weather cancellations--and amplifies our charitable gift.

While sponsorships and individual registrations are not tax deductible, all proceeds, after expenses are paid (e.g., t-shirt costs, posters), are fully donated to the charity. Registration Fee: $20 (on/before Jan 25) - $30 (after Jan 25; t-shirt not guaranteed.

Register on/before January 25 and you are guaranteed a one-of-a-kind t-shirt in the size you select on your registration.

The NASP 5K Walk/Run—Rocky Road Tour offers a unique memento of Philadelphia (our super t-shirt), a chance at phresh Philly air (check out our suggested routes), and a “hug” for our host city (our GOTR donation). We'd love to have you in the ring with us, going the rounds and distance, for this great cause!

Register on/before January 25 and save 30% off the onsite rate.

Your early registration also guarantees you a reserved t-shirt in the size you select on your registration. Fee: $20 (on/before January 25) - $30 (after January 25; T-shirt not guaranteed).

Our unique logo will be featured on our longsleeve t-shirt, along with each of our state association sponsors on the reverse. As well, maps and course descriptions will be available onsite and at our website for your “Do-It-Yourself” participation.

You can register for the 5K Walk/Run at the time you register for convention or add it later by editing your registration (event code: SE01). The price increases after January 25!

With flexible options, a unique t-shirt, and a great charity--we hope you will have a “knockout” impression of Philadelphia and the NASP 5K.

COURSES

Download directions/maps for “DIY” courses and possibilities for informal, volunteer-led walks/runs!

The 5K does not receive funding from NASP. It is a self-sustaining event reliant on volunteers, sponsorships, individual registrations, and limited donated staff time. Corporate and/or state association sponsorships are key to the 5K's success.

As a sponsor, your organization will be linked to this crowd-pleasing event through visibility (1) on the back of our race t-shirt, (2) in at least one issue of our publication Communiqué, circulated to over 25,000 school psychologists and related professionals, (3) at our 5K webpage, and (4) in other media used to promote the event.

All proceeds after expenses are paid will be donated to a charity with strong ties to children and/or families in the host-city area. For 2012, we are hoping for a robust donation to Girls on the Run (GOTR) (Montgomery County PA chapter)—educating and preparing girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living via a curriculum of running, group supports, and thoughtful core values.

While a sponsorship is generally not tax deductible, our convention participants and NASP members will take notice of the shared goodwill partnership between your organization and NASP. We would love to have you join us—if not this year, then—the next.

Corporate Sponsorship

Are you a corporation seeking a worthwhile vehicle to carry your good name to school psychologists? As a corporate sponsor, your support could take shape in one of several ways, with visibility determined by your donation amount (e.g., $10,000/exclusive visibility, $5,000/top billing above other sponsors). Here are some examples:

  • Donating a defined dollar amount – Direct and defined funding bolsters flexibility and planning.
  • Pledging a $10 charity donation-per-registration (e.g., $4,000-$5,000) – This path inspires more registrations.
  • Underwriting the design/printing of our t-shirts and/or other items (e.g., $4,000-$5,000) – This approach can energize our registrants.
  • Donating directly to our charity (e.g., $2,000-$5,000) once our expenses are met – A direct donation to our charity, in honor of the NASP 5K Walk/Run gives you a tax credit and our members notice of your company's goodwill.
  • All approaches help to build visibility, memorability, and goodwill with your members, current and/or potential clients or customers, and those who value corporate social responsibility.

Girls on the Run

We are delighted to have the Montgomery County (PA) chapter of Girls on the Run (GOTR) as our designated charity, a non-profit organization encouraging preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through a comprehensive curriculum of running, group supports, and thoughtful core values. Their program and goals synchronize with NASP's on many levels. After all expenses are paid, all proceeds will be donated to GOTR. Thank you for your generosity.

ABOUT OUR LOGO

In this year's t-shirt, our designer Rex Bohn (www.rexbohn.com) included the inimitable image of a boxer. In the City of Brotherly Love whose beating heart inspired Joe Frazier and the mythic Rocky Balboa, what better place than Philadelphia to celebrate the positive ways a “fighting spirit” can work its magic on a Rocky Road.
