Graduate Student Activities
We invite you to be among the more than 2,000 school
psychology graduate students, interns, and new professionals who attend the
convention annually. Register today to build on your training or practice
experiences, enhance your long-term professional capacity, expand your

Dialogue: Spotlight on School Psychology Innovators. A
panel of graduate students and early career practitioners from culturally
and linguistically diverse backgrounds will discuss their exemplary
projects, activities, and research related to diversity themes during this
session. Networking opportunities, audience discussion, and information on
becoming active NASP members and leaders will be provided. This session is
co-sponsored by the Multicultural Affairs Committee and Early Career
Workgroup. Wednesday,

- The
Professional in Transition: Getting and Keeping Your First Job as a School
Psychologist [SE02]. (sponsored by Sopris West Educational Services, A Cambium Learning Company) Job seekers won’t want to miss the most popular
special event of the NASP 2010 Convention Career Service. Back by popular demand
(and always well attended), this seminar is a comprehensive warm-up for
compiling an effective resume and cover letter; developing a quality
portfolio; conducting a powerful interview; and managing your time,
stress, and workload. Also included are tips on how to make the best use
of the
NASP
Online
Career
Center. A light
reception with prospective employers will be included following the
educational component of the event. (The fee is $15, and preregistration
is required.) Wednesday,

- NASP
Convention Career Service. Gain a competitive edge by meeting
face-to-face with potential employers. Thursday,

- NCSP Help Session: Preparing for the
Praxis Exam in School Psychology. This session will present strategies
to assist participants in preparing for the School Psychology Praxis Exam.
The presentation will include methods, materials, and strategies
recommended for exam preparation. Thursday,
March 4, 2010, 8:00–9:20 a.m.
- NCSP
Help for Applicants from Non-NASP Approved Programs. This session is
appropriate for NCSP applicants who have completed non-NASP approved
graduate preparation programs. Participants will receive an overview of
the process and will be able to ask individual questions regarding their
application materials. Thursday,

- Student
and Early Career Mentoring Program. Sign up online before the
convention to be matched with a mentor to get answers to your
questions about the profession and your career. Information and online

- The Student
Outing. Enjoy a fun night out during the convention and meet
fellow graduate students from across the nation at Sluggers Sports Bar and
Grill. Tickets ($10) are required
for this event and may be purchased at the Student Information Center in
the Grand Ballroom Foyer on the Gold Level in the East Tower of the Hyatt
Regency Chicago. Registration is limited, and tickets will be sold on
a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that no refunds will be
issued for unused or partially used tickets. Friday,
