Convention Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in volunteering - the volunteer system is now closed. Volunteers will receive an e-mail prior to Convention with their final assignments. See you in New Orleans!
NASP is looking for volunteers to serve as workshop monitors; assist with
poster sessions, the Children’s Fund
Auction, and the 5K Walk/Run; help staff the Candidate Interview
Service, NASP Publications, and the Volunteer booths; and assist with various
other activities. Volunteers may sign up for a total of two (2) volunteer slots.
All volunteers must be current NASP members and must have registered for the convention.
Those volunteering for a workshop do not need to register for the workshop. All volunteers will receive a special edition volunteer
pin in appreciation of their support and service.
Information for Student Members
In appreciation of a minimum of 4 hours of service, student
volunteers only will receive a refund of their convention registration fee.
If you paid your registration with a credit card, you can obtain an on-site refund via credit card, but you must bring that credit card to the volunteer sign-in booth at the Convention. If you paid by check, you will need to complete a reimbursement form at the volunteer sign-in booth, and NASP will mail a check to you after the Convention.
Information for Regular Members
The
time you provide as a volunteer may count toward continuing professional
development (CPD) hours depending on your personal evaluation of the educational
value of the experience.
There are four questions to ask when evaluating an activity to determine
if it may be claimed for CPD credit. If you can answer “yes” to all four
of the following questions, you may claim CPD credit for the activity:
1. Did the activity enhance or upgrade my professional skills or add to
my knowledge base?
2. Was the activity relevant to the professional practice of school psychology?
3. Did the activity fit into my personal plan for continuing professional
development?
4. Did the activity go beyond the ordinary aspects of my employment?
Volunteer
spots are first-come, first-served, and they fill quickly.
You will receive e-mail confirmation of your assignment. Keep this confirmation
slip to verify your assignment. Also, please ensure that the e-mail address
you provide is valid through April. Once scheduled, all volunteer placements
are considered final. If you cannot keep your commitment, you must log back
into the database and unsubscribe yourself from the
position no later than 2 weeks before the convention.
The convention benefits greatly from the volunteer efforts of dedicated
regular and student members. Please consider contributing a few hours of
your time.
