NASP IDEA Recommendations
IDEA 2004 Draft Regulations
NASP's comments and recommendations on the proposed regulations for
the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) were
submitted to OSERS on September 2, 2005.
The Learning Disabilities
Roundtable submitted recommendations to OSERS
on the draft IDEA Regulations on August 15, 2005.
NASP has joined their coalition partners in the National Alliance of
Pupil Services Organizations (NAPSO) by endorsing their written comments
submitted September 1, 2005, regarding the IDEIA Proposed Regulations. Click

In submitting comments on the proposed regulations for IDEA, NASP's
coalition partners in the National Alliance of Pupil Service Organizations
(NAPSO) emphasized the need for the Department to clarify the rules
detailing when an IEP related service provider could be excluded from
an IEP meeting. NAPSO partners, concerned that this provision in the
regulations might be abused by some school districts or families, focused
special attention on this matter by submitting a separate letter to OSERS
requesting assistance in this area. To

Learning Disabilities Initiative Report
The Learning Disability Roundtable, a group of ten
educational and advocacy organizations that represent children served
through the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA),
has submitted recommendations to the Office of Special Education Programs
(OSEP), U.S. Department of Education. The report entitled, "Specific
Learning Disabilities: Finding Common Ground” proposes improvements
to better identify and serve students with learning disabilities in public
