Frequently Asked Questions—Conventions
and Conferences
When and where is the NASP 2011 Annual
Convention being held?
The NASP 2011
Annual Convention will be held February 22–25, at the
Hilton San Francisco Union Square. Registration and housing will open on
October 4, 2010. The convention dates and locations for future meetings also are available.
What is
included in my convention registration fee?
Your convention registration fee includes admission to the
keynote address, all special and featured sessions, more than 1,000 reviewed
presentations (mini-skills, papers, symposia, posters, and PIEs), the Exhibit Hall,
and the
San Francisco
welcome party. Listings of the educational sessions will be available on the Convention section of
the NASP website by mid-January. Additional fees are required for optional
NASP Convention Workshops, certain special events, and the audio recording
packages.
Payment may be made by Visa/MasterCard, check, or money
order only. Checks and money orders must be made payable to NASP, in U.S.
dollars. Please note that NASP is unable
to accept purchase orders. Please submit a separate registration form and
payment for each individual attending the convention; checks covering more than
one person’s registration will not be accepted.
How can I
be a presenter at the Convention?
The online Call for Presentation
Proposals is now available. The deadline to submit a proposal is June 16,
2010. Please download and read the instructions first, then proceed to the online submission system. Acceptance
information will be made available to primary presenters by September 29, 2010.
Please note all presenters are required to register for the convention by
November 24, 2010.
Do I earn professional development credits
for attending the convention?
Convention participants can earn continuing professional
development (CPD) credits for attending most convention activities. The NASP
2011 Annual Convention offers 4 full days of educational sessions that are
included in your registration fee, averaging 8 hours per day of CPD-eligible
time. Additional CPD credit also is available by participating in optional NASP
Convention Workshops that extend into the evening hours and on Saturday,
February 26.
The San Francisco Convention will include a strand of
advanced NASP-approved CPD sessions. Attendees of these CPD sessions will be
eligible to receive a certificate of attendance documenting NASP-approved CPD
credit. Participants who want
documentation of attendance will need to sign in at the beginning of each
session, stay for the entire session, and complete and submit an evaluation at
the end of the session. The NASP-approved CPD sessions count toward the new
NCSP requirement of NASP-approved credit for a portion of renewal CPD (Visit www.nasponline.org/certification for additional details.)This is an added
value, as the NASP-approved CPD sessions are included with your convention
registration fee!
Can I assist with the Annual Convention?
NASP is looking for individuals to serve as convention
assistants and NASP Convention Workshop monitors to assist with various
convention activities. All monitors and assistants must be current NASP members
and must register for the convention before signing up as convention assistants or workshop monitors. Workshop monitors may
participate in the workshop (and receive CPD credit) without paying the
workshop fee. Individuals serving as workshop monitors do not need to register
for the workshop they monitor once they have signed up for that monitor
assignment. The time you provide as a convention assistant may count toward continuing
professional development (CPD) hours, depending on your personal evaluation of
the educational value of the experience. In appreciation of a minimum of 4–6
hours of service, a refund of $75 will be given to student convention
assistants only. Convention assistant spots fill quickly on a first-come,
first-served, space-available basis. Convention registration will open on
October 4, 2010.
Additional information will be available at that time on the NASP website. The
electronic sign-up system for convention assistant and NASP Convention Workshop
monitor slots will open on
November 1, 2010.
