Special Events

Various special events take place during the NASP convention each year. Special event descriptions, including dates and times, will be available on the convention section of the NASP website, beginning in January 2010. Special events for which there is a fee and registration is required are listed below:

5K Walk/Run: Take It to the Streets! (A Do-It-Yourself “DIY” Event) [SE01]

Again this year, the NASP 5K Walk/Run will be a DIY event and will feature a fabulous T-shirt, a flexible schedule, and the opportunity to donate to a local charity—the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Based on input from the 2009 convention in Boston, Chicago’s DIY event will feature several scheduled and guided runs and walks for which you can sign up on site. Or, if you choose, you also may go it alone or with your own group. Brave the weather—whatever it might be—with a downtown walk or a run along the lake. Suggested route information will be provided on site, along with your T-shirt. Register to participate and contribute to the worthwhile Chicago charity. Walk, run, but definitely plan to “Take it to the Streets” in Chicago! Registration is required. Preconvention cost: $15; cost after February 3, 2010, and on site: $25.
