2012 Children's Fund Auction in Philadelphia
The NASP Children's Fund Board of Trustees wishes to thank everyone who attended the 2011 Children's Fund Auction in San Francisco and contributed to making this such a success. In 2011, fund raising initiatives and auction plans were revised for the San Francisco NASP Convention and the Children's Fund Auction. Those changes will continue this year with the Philadelphia auction in order to maintain the focus on raising funds destined to benefit children and youth.
In order to gain the most benefits from this fundraiser, no food will be provided at the auction and admission will remain a $2.00 donation. A cash bar will be available, and the auction will continue to have live and silent formats.
In consideration of the need to decrease the fees for postage, hotel handling/storage, and checked luggage, please consult the following guidelines when planning your donations to the 2012 auction:
- Arrange donations in the form of certificates
- Donate smaller, easily packed items
- Donate event tickets ( or tickets that can be used in the convention city)
- Encourage state associations to donate single, manageable items
- Consider giving items of $30 value or more for the silent auction
- Encourage publishers to give certificates for their products
- Include return postage for the buyer
Auction items are priced for beginning bid at approximately half their value. Several considerations, such as the value and uniqueness of an item, are used in selecting items for the live auction. Due to time constraints, the items selected for the live auction are limited. The trustees of the Children's Fund determine the placement and number of items for the live auction. Contributions are given generously and are of wonderful quality. It is hoped that attendees will take this and the purpose of the auction into account when bidding on items.
Admittance to the auction is a donation to the Children's Fund. It is not for Children's Fund membership. Children's Fund membership is $10.00 a year. The money raised by the auction is used for charitable purposes.
The Children's Fund trustees are considering the following fund raising options at the NASP 2012 convention:
- Silent auction tables
- Live auction
- A “Split the Pot” drawing
- Selling of Children's Fund pins at the Children's Fund booth
- A drawing for an airfare/hotel package during the auction (do not need to be present to win)
The Children's Fund booth will be located in the Exhibits Hall area of the convention. If you did not include the auction entrance fee in your convention registration, you may purchase an admission ticket at this booth. Auction bidding numbers may also be picked up at the Children's Fund booth in advance, or at the door on the night of the auction. The auction will be held in Grand Ballroom G/H on Level 5 of the Marriott Philadelphia Downtown Hotel from 6:00–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Thank you for your continued support of the NASP Children's Fund. We hope that you will join us at the Children's Fund Auction!
